Alan Viader

Director of Operations & Winemaking, Viader Vineyards & Winery

As the right-hand to his mother and founder, Delia, Alan oversees Viader Vineyards & Winery production from start to finish. After working on the grounds from an early age, Alan earned a degree in Viticulture Management, became manager at Viader and continued his education in winemaking and production. Since 2006, he’s been lead winemaker and continues to oversee all operations while continually pushing Viader’s status as one of the must-visit wineries in the Napa Valley.

Alan’s also a seasoned traveler and avid adventurer. He makes a habit of visiting wine producers and wine growing regions throughout Argentina, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany and France to apply his learning back home. In 2013, he studied viticulture in Bordeaux, France, and has been at the forefront of sustainable practices and technological integrations to benefit his wine, community and region.

“Creating something that other people enjoy is highly rewarding.”

“Whether it be motorcycling or outdoor activities or winemaking, there’s a risk factor and a challenge to perfect whatever you’re doing.”
