Brittanny Anderson

Chef

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Brittanny Anderson lamented her hometown’s lack of German food so much that she decided to take matters into her own hands. Having trained at some of the country’s finest restaurants including Blue Hill at Stone Barns, she opened her first restaurant, Metzger (German for “butcher”) in 2014. The accolades have been coming in ever since, netting Brittanny two James Beard Award nominations and a coveted spot on Bon Appetit’s Top 50 restaurant list.

Brittanny’s been on a meat-forward, Alpine roll ever since, opening up two other restaurants, Brenner Pass and Chairlift. She’s also strutted her culinary chops on Food Network’s Iron Chef America, dueling it out against the legendary Chef Alex Guarnaschelli. Meat and cheese have a special place in Brittanny’s heart, lending an air of familial warmth to all her dishes. Her food is light, playful and just rich enough to soothe even the most savage bellies. It’s an ode to the flavors of Europe, a love song dedicated to hospitality, great food and drinks that we can’t help but return to time and time again.

“We have a motto at Metzger: ‘Rustic and Sexy.’ Which is how I would describe my own style.”

“Work hard. Never leave early. Eat out as much as you can. Keep your knives sharp.”
