Andalusia

SAVOR

The rich complexity of Andalusian cuisine—from tapas and jamón to elegant sherries

EXPLORE

Granada's architecture, Seville's tapas, traditional flamenco, glorious countryside

CELEBRATE

Art and architecture, culture and history, and meet with local chefs and artisans

Why Andalusia

The south of Spain is a world unto itself: alpine mountains to fertile plains, farmhouse days to flamenco nights. Andalusia is about savoring two millennia's worth of rich culture and architecture, and feasting on local produce, wine and sherries. A walk down the streets of Seville is the best kind of history lesson. Add that to Granada, a fairytale-like place of minarets, flowing fountains and garden-shrouded villas, and you have the makings of an enviable Spanish experience.

Moments That Matter

Explore deep in the Andalusian countryside, lemon groves perfuming the air outside rustic farmhouses. Prepare a country-style feast or wander the back streets of Seville on a tapeo (tapas crawl) experiencing what the Andalusians call alegría: an explosion of food, wine, laughter and joy. Explore the halls of the mighty Alhambra, beguiled by its fairytale pavilions. Sample the freshest regional delicacies in the most lush countryside settings.

Your Private Experience

Who It’s For

From a romantic getaway, to a group of wine enthusiasts, to people looking for the most flavorful Andalusian delicacies, trip is made to be savored by all.

When to Travel

May and September are ideal times to visit for the weather and minimal crowds. April, June and early October still have pleasant weather and opportunities to avoid the mid-summer crush.

Make It Yours

More time exploring local wineries or meeting with local farmers and producers, or explore farther afield in Barcelona, Madrid and beyond.

Day by Day

Spend time along the coast or dive more deeply into Seville, Granada or Cordoba.

Day 1

Start in Seville (suh-BEE-ya to locals), the capital of Andalusia, and explore the old quarter of Santa Cruz, with its centuries-old gardens and lime-washed houses, and the mighty Alcazar, the city’s magnificent royal palace. Then make like the sevillanos do, embarking on your own tapeo, or tapas crawl, wandering maze-like alleys to buzzing tapas bars, from traditional to contemporary.

  • Private tour of city highlights
  • Tapas tour with local guide
  • Private chef dinner

Day 2

Today venture north into the Sierra de Huelva, homeland of the world-renowned Iberian pig. Wend your way through hilltop towns near the Portuguese border, where jamón ibérico de bellota—the world’s finest—are cured for up to three years. Your host will give you you a personal tour of his family pig farm in the foothills, with a rustic farm lunch devoted to the region’s bounty—young cheeses, mushrooms, wild asparagus and artichokes, and more jamón ibérico, of course—all accompanied by spectacular local wines.

  • Private tour of family-run pig farm
  • Visit to jamón shops
  • Farm lunch

Day 3

Spend the morning exploring Seville’s central market: garden-fresh produce, freshly caught seafood, straight-from-the-oven bread, olives and spices. Pick out our favorite items, then head to a nearby restaurant for a master class on cooking with sherry, courtesy of a local chef. The area just outside Seville produces much of Spain’s olive oil; you’ll be treated to a private tour of a local almazara (olive mill). Appetites well-oiled, dinner is at a Michelin-starred kitchen with courses paired with a variety of cheeses and regional wines.

  • Market visit to pick local produce
  • Hands-on cooking class
  • Private tour of olive mill
  • Dinner at Michelin-starred Abantal

Day 4

In Spanish, they say that quien no ha visto Granada, no ha visto nada—the person who hasn’t seen Granada hasn’t seen anything—and for good reason. Granada’s exquisite beauty is a direct product of centuries of Arab influence. Every corner hides a surprise, whether it’s an unexpected vista spied through a stone window, or a sunset turning stone ramparts of the old town a gentle rose-gold. After settling in, explore the heart of the old town, then reconvene for dinner and a traditional performance of flamenco. This typically Andalusian spectacle of music and dance strikes such an emotional chord that there’s even a special word for it: duende

  • Transfer to Granada
  • Old City walking tour
  • Dinner and flamenco performance

Days 5 - 6

They say a visit to the Alhambra “breaks all the senses.” You’ll spend the morning exploring this sprawling, hilltop fortress complex, with its stunning array of royal palaces, serene patios and reflecting pools from the Nasrid dynasty. A World Heritage site since 1984, it has been a tourist attraction for centuries. You’ll also explore the Lecrín Valley, where whitewashed villages and orange groves tumble down the hillsides. Your hosts Scarlett and Chris invite you to join them at their farmhouse, immersing yourselves in the timeless rhythms of the Spanish countryside and creating a feast to remember.

  • Private tour Alhambra
  • Time to explore Granada
  • Farmhouse visit in Lecrín Valley
  • Hands-on cooking with local chefs

Where We Sleep

An avant-garde outpost in the center of Seville, a palatial former convent in the heart of Granada's old town—our accommodations reflect the best of Andalusia's artistic and historic influences.

Seville

In the heart of the city, opposite the Parque de Maria Luisa stretching with greenery along the Guadalquivir River. It's an avant garde masterpiece with all the comforts you'd expect, including indoor and outdoor pools plus a spa. Have a snack—and a drink—on the rooftop deck as you revel in Seville’s glorious skyline.

Granada

Nestled in Granada’s historic center, it's an artistic and historic monument built within a 16th-century convent and 12th-century Moorish house. Stroll to the Albaicin and Sacromonte sites, the wonderful Triunfo Gardens, and of course, the Alhambra. It’s your slice of that Granada magic to call home.
