Why Los Angeles

Everywhere you look, there’s art hiding in plain sight: LA is home to more museums than anywhere else in the country, plus some 200 galleries and scores of public installations and murals. Thousands of artists have flocked to LA and found their own personal end of the rainbow. And just like them, you'll never want to leave. Maybe it’s the art, the food scene—or the electricity of Los Angeles itself.

Moments That Matter

Explore the thriving contemporary art scene of Los Angeles. Talk shop with emerging artists and dynamic collectors on intimate studio visits. Get rare access to collections rarely seen by the public, and insider access to the works of people like Justin John Green, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, John Houck, Leslie Shows, Chris Lux and Chris Engman, plus the expansive private collections of Andrew Teufel and Danny First.

Your Private Experience

Who It’s For

Our LA is for anybody who loves culture, design—and especially art. Great for a long weekend to eat well, explore, and get an insider's look at LA's contemporary art scene.

When to Travel

LA is a year-round destination. Our favorite times to visit are March - May and September - October, when the weather is warm and sunny, but never too hot.

Make It Yours

Slow down to enjoy time on the beach, sunrise yoga, or hiking the hills of Malibu. Or go deep into LA's world-class food scene. We can curate an LA experience to suit your interests.

Day by Day

Experience the best of LA with ease. While the focus of our trip is art, there are many opportunities to delve deeper into culture, cuisine and the outdoors.

Day 1

Kick-off your LA art experience with a private tour of MOCA, LA’s highly respected Museum of Contemporary Art. Then it’s off to West Hollywood for a private tour of artist-collector Danny First’s The Cabin, an intimate exhibition space modeled on the Unabomber’s cabin in the woods. Cocktail hour finds you back in downtown LA at the hotel, rubbing elbows with a mix of creative downtown denizens and a dizzying array of cocktails, before enjoying a welcome dinner at one of downtown LA’s top kitchens.

  • MOCA visit
  • Private tour of The Cabin
  • Downtown LA welcome dinner

Day 2

Start off the morning Angeleno-style, saluting the sun and bringing your body and soul into alignment at a downtown LA yoga studio. Then head out for the day, beginning at Marciano Art Foundation for private tour before it’s even open to the public and see some up-and-coming contemporary masterpieces. After lunch, go on a walk-through of Hauser & Wirth gallery in LA’s burgeoning Arts District, and walk-throughs based on your interests of Night Gallery, Francois Ghebaly, Mistake Room, The Box, and Susanne Vielmetter.

  • Private Marciano Art Foundation visit
  • Private gallery walk-throughs
  • Sunset cocktails at hotel

Day 3

Start the day with another ‘when in LA’ morning activity: a hike in Griffith Park. Then dive back into the art scene at Andrew Teufel’s private collection, then head across town to the Hammer Museum for a VIP curator’s tour, including lunch at the museum’s restaurant, Audrey. Culver City is your next destination to embark on an epic gallery walk, taking in works by Anat Ebgi, Honor Fraser, and Blum + Poe. Break before evening to prepare for dinner at another of LA’s top kitchens.

  • Hike in Griffith Park
  • Andrew Teufel's private collection
  • Hammer Museum VIP curator’s tour
  • Gallery walk-throughs
  • Chef's table dinner

Day 4

End your LA excursion on an artistic high note: a final studio visit, then a private tour of the home of Luis De Jesus and Jay Wingate. Known primarily as art dealers, your private tour of their Baldwin Hills residence is a chance to marvel at their personal collection.

  • Studio visit
  • Private tour of Luis De Jesus & Jay Wingate collection
  • Private transfer to LAX airport

Where We Sleep

Staying at a hotel in downtown LA almost always feels like stepping back in time. Rarer and more lovely is the opportunity to feel like you’re moving forward at the same time.

Downtown LA

Our downtown LA hotel enjoyed a storied past life as the opulent local headquarters of the Bank of Italy. Painstaking restoration has kept that European heritage intact: the gold-wrapped coffee bar (by day) and aperitivo bar (by night) was modeled after a 300-year-old Venetian cafe. The library, with its cozy dark wood and stuffed peacocks and pheasants, is pure Old World. But head to the rooftop bar for poolside cocktails and shimmering views of the city below, and you’ll know you couldn’t be anywhere but downtown LA, right here, right now.
